A Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization Approach for Solving Optimal Power Flow With Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor

This paper presents an application of Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) to obtain the optimal settings of control variables. The HPSO technique is used to find the Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problem solution for minimization of fuel cost as objective function. The suitability of this approach is examined on the standard IEEE 14 bus test system with TCSC. Simulation results shows that the HPSO algorithm with TCSC gives better solution to enhance the system performance.
