Design of Multiband RoF-PoN for Down Stream and Wavelength Reuse to Upstream

Prabhakar.B, Mahendran.C

In this paper, we proposed and experimentally demonstrate a radio over fiber passive optical network (WDM-RoF-PON) based on carrier suppressed double sideband inverse return to zero (CSDSB-IRZ). That can be achieve wire line and wireless application synchronously. The wire line and multiband wireless signals are generate by using two MZ modulators. The triple services 2.5 Gb/s baseband, 20 GHz MW and 40 GHz MMW are generated by this PON-RoF architecture and also support to wire line upstream and wireless upstream transmission. The following transmission over 25km SSMF, the power penalty of both baseband and wireless signal is less than 0.6 dB. The wavelength re-modulation approach is proposed to upstream transmission. For upstream communication, the RZ line coding used with 2.5 Gb/s speed. The power penalty of wired and wireless upstream is also less than 0.6 dB. The reuse of downstream light source, the ONU can avoid the laser source and makes the PON-RoF is colorless. This networking has the credible transmission properties including wireless access and fiber transmission.
