Development of Storm Water Quality Model for Ugep Urban, South-South Nigeria Using the Multiple Regression Approach

REE Antigha

This research was aimed at the development of stormwater quality model for Ugep Metropolis. Physico-chemical and bacteriological characteristics of stormwater were obtained from ten sampling points, all within Ugep Metropolis for two months. The parameters examined were Temperature, pH, Electrical Conductivity, DO, COD, Total Phosphate, TSS, T.D.S, BOD5, NO2, NO3, NH4, Turbidity, THC and TCC. The model developed gave a good correlation of R = 0.997 and R2 = 0.994 at 0.05 level of significance. The R square value of the regression model shows that NO3, TURB, TP, THC, PH, TEMP, and DO accounted for 99.4% of the total variation in BOD5 (R2 = 0.994). The model is thus given as BOD5, = -3.123–0.476NO3–3.406TURB + 3.953TP + 14.449THC + 0.588pH–0.00005TEMP–0.371DO. It has been recommended that government should.
