Pallavi P, V.S Veena Devi

With the evolution of technology, people have adopted their day today lives to utilize the benefits of highly advanced technologies. Plants are among the earth's most useful and beautiful products of nature. The crucial need is that many plants are at the risk of extinction. Most of the ayurvedic medicines are prepared using plant leaves and many of these plant species belong to the endanger group. Hence it is vitally important to set up a database for plant protection. Even today, identification and classification of unknown plant species are performed manually by expert personnel who are very few in number. The important aspect is to develop a system which classifies the plants. In this paper a novel framework for recognizing and identifying plants is been proposed. Shape, vein, color and texture features have been used to identify the leaf and neural network approach is used to classify them. This is an intelligent system which has the ability to identify tree species from photographs of their leaves and it provides accurate results in less time.
