Reduction of End To End Delay Using Priority Queues in Wireless Sensor Network

Jayasudha.J , T.Prabakaran

Wireless sensor network are usually deployed, possibly in extreme conditions such as mountainous region, and left unattended to function for long time. In order to prolong the network lifetime, it is necessary to minimize the consumption of energy by individual nodes. In addition, it is also necessary to ensure that the average rate of consumption of energy by each node is also the same. The existing packet-scheduling mechanisms of WSN use First Come First Served (FCFS), non-pre-emptive priority and pre-emptive priority scheduling algorithms. In this project, a Dynamic Multilevel Priority packet scheduling scheme proposed. In the proposed scheme, each node, except those at the last level of the virtual hierarchy in the zone based topology of WSN, has three levels of priority queues. According to priority of packet node will route the packet to destination.
